Alalay Sa Kaunlaran Inc. (ASKI) was established in October 1986 after the EDSA People Power Revolution- a time when widespread unemployment and poverty were exacerbated by political instability and a leadership transition. In response to the pressing needs of communities during this challenging period, a group of Christian business leaders from Nueva Ecija came together with a vision to create an organization that would uplift the lives of the disadvantaged.

Officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on March 23, 1987, ASKI began as a non-stock, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and developing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and delivering essential social services. The organization formally commenced operations on July 1, 1987.

With an initial fund of ₱460,000 from the Maranatha Trust of Australia, ASKI reached out to small entrepreneurs, informal economy workers, and the key drivers of the micro-economy who lacked access to traditional financial institutions. Over time, ASKI strategically expanded its services by establishing various Strategic Business Units (SBUs) to address the socio-economic challenges in its areas of operation. Today, these units form the ASKI Group including:

For the past 38 years, the ASKI Group has achieved significant milestones and overcome formidable challenges. From its humble beginnings in a small office in Cabanatuan City, ASKI has flourished, growing to serve not only rural communities but also overseas Filipino workers. Today, ASKI manages a total portfolio of ₱1.8 billion, operates 72 branches across Regions 1, 2, and 3, and serves over 118,000 clients. Additionally, it provides insurance coverage to more than 1 million members and their families.

As of December 31, 2024, ASKI has a dedicated workforce of 858 employees, underscoring its commitment to empowering communities through a robust team.

ASKI’s name is now recognized locally and internationally for its commitment to transforming lives and continuously innovating to meet the evolving needs of the people. Its reputation for trustworthiness has allowed ASKI to forge meaningful partnerships with institutions aligned with its mission. The organization has also strengthened its alliances in the local and international front to address the needs of underserved communities.
